The Internet - Level One

Description

Participants will  learn basic skills needed to begin using Internet resources in an instructional setting to enhance learning. By the end of the workshop participants will be able to describe the development of the Internet, use the basic features of the browser, define parts of a URL and use it to view a site, use hyperlinks, perform basic keyword and Boolean searches using a search engine, list pages in Favorites or Bookmarks, download graphics, and copy text.

Email - Just the Basics

Description

This half-day workshop can be presented on a number of different platforms including Outlook XP, Outlook 2000, Outlook 97, Outlook Express, and Netscape Mail. At the conclusion of the half-day workshop, participants will have the basic skills needed to communicate via email including sending and receiving, replying, forwarding, and organizing mail.

Using Outlook

Description

If you are using or are going to use one of the "full-blown" versions of Outlook (Outlook XP, 2000, 97) this is the workshop that you want to attend. This full day workshop will cover all the basic email topics described in the "Email - Just the Basics" workshop. Advanced email techniques and features such as attachments and Rules Wizard will also be covered. Other, non-email related features of the Outlook program will be covered including the calendar, journal, contacts, notes, sent items, tasks, and Outlook Today (XP and 2000 only). At the conclusion of the full-day workshops participants will be able to use Outlook features for email, contacts management, calendar and journal.

Description

During this full-day workshop participants will learn strategies to integrate the Internet into classroom activities—hotlists, scavenger hunts, WebQuesting—with a focus on appropriate and safe use. Online resources (lesson plans, class projects, educational games, reference materials, study aids, specialized search engines, and web publishing) will be highlighted. Prerequisite: Beginning Internet or skills taught in that workshop.

Description

In this full-day  workshop participants will take an exciting journey into the world of WebQuesting. By the end of the workshop they  will have a very good idea about what WebQuests are and how a WebQuest can benefit their students, no matter what grade level or subject they teach. They will also have the knowledge and resources to begin using this exciting learning activity with your own students. And if you are really an adventurer, you will have the skills and resources to begin creating your own customized WebQuests for your students.
